About this Event

Inventive, French-inspired dessert recipes from the founder of the beloved New York City bakery, From Lucie.

Lucie Franc de Ferriere is the owner and head baker at From Lucie, a small bakery in the East Village known for its whimsical baked goods adorned with fresh flowers. Born and raised in Southern France, Lucie grew up baking cakes with her mother at the family's farm and bed-and-breakfast in their 165-year-old chateau, and after moving to New York City, she became homesick and turned to baking for a taste of home. Eventually, Lucie’s baked goods became so popular at café pop-ups that she decided to take a leap of faith and open her own bakery.

With transportive photography from Lucie’s farm and personal stories woven throughout, Cake From Lucie captures the charm of the French countryside and the buzz of New York City while relaying the secrets for Lucie’s beautiful and memorable desserts.

🎟️ What your ticket includes:
- admission
- one hardcover copy of Cake From Lucie
- sample treats of cakes from Lucie!

Lucie Franc de Ferriere is a self-taught baker living in New York City. She founded her bakery From Lucie as a love story to the French countryside, where she was born and raised. When she opened her little yellow cake shop in the heart of the East Village, it instantly drew lines of customers, earned rave reviews, and became a must-visit destination for dessert lovers.

Natasha Pickowicz is a California born, New York City–based chef, a four-time James Beard Foundation Award finalist, and the author of More Than Cake, which was named a New York Times Best Cookbook of 2023 as well as a James Beard Foundation finalist in the baking category. Much of her work explores the relationship between baking and social justice, including ongoing collaborations with seminal New York City institutions like Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, God’s Love We Deliver, the Brigid Alliance, and Planned Parenthood of Greater New York, for whom she produced a massive city-wide bake sale, raising more than $200,000 between 2017 and 2024.
Pickowicz’s recipes and writing have been published in the New York Times, Vogue magazine, the Wall Street Journal, Bon Appetit, Saveur, Food & Wine, New York magazine, Cherry Bombe, and many other publications.
