Authentic Touch Workshop

Touch is a basic human need that many of us don’t meet for ourselves. In fact, a great deal of us are touch-starved and may not even know it. There may be a lot of questions running through our heads when it comes to exchanging touch with others. Will I be safe? Will I be able to say “no”? Will I be creepy? Will I ask for what I want? Do I even know what I really want?

In this workshop, we will discuss our fears, expectations, and desires, and explore our boundaries through embodied practice with platonic touch. We will practice proven ways to honor our own boundaries and the boundaries of others. We will have an in-depth discussion around consent, what a genuine “yes” or “no” feels like, what comes up around those, and what to do if you’re a “maybe”, or an “I’m not sure”. This workshop will also give you the opportunity to practice platonic touch in a safe container, and to be validated in your experience. The tools and practices of this workshop are incredibly valuable resources for talking to your children about topics like consent, boundaries, awareness to body signals, and safety.

Authentic Touch Workshops are intentional, safe spaces built around honoring boundaries and consent. Anyone who is observed as intentionally violating consent will be asked to leave. If you have experienced trauma related to touch, we encourage you to consult with a mental health professional before attending this workshop to make sure you are ready.
