Course Overview
This advanced in-person course, led by International Teaching Artist Karla Dingle, will challenge you to think on your feet, deepen your emotional range, and collaborate deeply in two-person dramatic scenes.
Unleash your creativity and sharpen your skills in this advanced improv and acting class. You’ll learn to be a compelling scene partner, develop emotional authenticity, and offer meaningful “gifts” that elevate your scenes. Individual side coaching will help you recognize and refine your unique patterns and choices in performance.

Who Should Join?
Ideal for actors and improvisers with at least one year of acting or improv training and are seeking to advance their craft.
Prerequisites:
Minimum 3 months of performance study
Willingness to take risks and embrace vulnerability
Open to exploring sensitive emotional content

Location
You’ll find us on South Blvd. at the business park with the giant 4200 sign and arrow. Pull into the park and head to the back building on the right side. We’re the corner unit with a green awning and the CATCh sign on the door. Nearby businesses include Kung Fu Tea, Tony’s Pizza, and Kebab2Go.

About Karla:
Karla Dingle, a lifelong theater artist with a B.A. in Theater from the University of Georgia, has been performing and teaching improv since 2009. Based in Charlotte, NC, she is Education Director at Queen City Comedy, Improv Director at a local studio, and performs with multiple ensembles including Now Are the Foxes. Karla has taught students across six continents, led workshops at international festivals, and was a 2023 Theater IDA Artist-in-Residence in Zurich. In 2025, she joined The Improv Boost’s Sudden Impact program as an international instructor. Her students have booked work with Apple TV, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and more.
