*** ABOUT AUSTRIA FORTNIGHT ***
To help everyone get into the spirit of social dance, our Austria Fortnight (1.5) classes are 21 informal dance lessons at Stanford’s campus in the three weeks before the Viennese Ball (get your Viennese Ball tickets here! https://www.eventbrite.com/.../45th-stanford-viennese...). These classes are free and open to the public, and you can attend as many as you’d like! This year, the Austria Fortnight will include classes every evening from February 4th to 24th.
Please wear comfortable clothing and socks or soft-soled shoes (NO STREET SHOES) that you can move easily in. Bring a mask because masking is REQUIRED. Classes will begin promptly at the indicated time and progress quickly, so be sure to arrive on time to get the most out of them! Most are targeted toward beginners, as we hope to provide those with limited dance experience comfort in the basics of salsa, swing, and waltz, so they can have a more enjoyable time at the Ball.
The intermediate lessons will assume comfort with the content of the corresponding beginner lessons and will not review the beginner lesson due to limited time. Social Dance 1 alums are strongly encouraged to attend a beginner lesson as a refresher. The beginner lessons require no previous experience with dancing; two left feet are welcome!
Please bring your own water bottle and arrive ~5 minutes early. Lessons will be about two hours long followed by some time for informal social dance.
ATTIRE: Casual; please wear comfortable clothing and socks or soft-soled shoes (NO STREET SHOES!) Please avoid wearing strong perfumes or pointed heels.
