AUSTRALIAN WOMEN LAWYERS CONFERENCE 2022

After two years of online only events, we are excited to announce the Australian Women Lawyers 2022 National Conference: Securing a safe, just, and equitable future for women.

The Conference will host a range of sessions, with women lawyers who are expert in their fields and equity and human rights focused sessions consistent with our organisation’s objectives.

Conference highlights include our key-note speaker, the Honourable Chief Justice Susan Kiefel AC, and many other fabulous speakers listed in the program notes here.

The Gala Dinner will feature presentation of the AWL Award winner, announced at each conference. The Award recognises women who have provided long term leadership and commitment in the support and advancement of women in the legal profession. To nominate someone for the AWL Award, presented at the Conference dinner go to our AWL Award Page – Nominations close on 4 July 2022. It will also feature comedian Steph Tisdell, who studied Law in Queensland before embarking on her comedy career.

Due to the current pandemic, we have been unable to risk booking a larger venue, and as such the capacity of the in-person conference is 120 people. Because of this in-person tickets are extremely limited. For this reason, and to ensure wider accessibility, we are also streaming the full day of conference sessions on 6 August, online. Online tickets can either be purchased individually for $100 each, or alternatively we are encouraging our constituent bodies (local women lawyer and barrister associations) to host streaming events for a fee of $1000, for as many attendees as they are able to attract. Please contact your local association to see whether they will be hosting one of these silo events. We also encourage other large groups to book the online streaming option in this way.

As we are a not-for-profit organisation, we are happy to offer a full refund to those unable to attend due to unexpected circumstances. However, this is conditional based on the ticket being filled by either a person of your choice or from the AWL conference waitlist.
