Australian Oral-Systemic Health & One Health Clinical Summit
About this Event
THE MOUTH IS NOT SEPARATE FROM THE BODY.
Most people live with chronic symptoms for years fatigue, inflammation, hormonal disruption, immune dysfunction and never once consider that the answer may begin in their mouth.
The Australian Oral–Systemic Infection & One Health Clinical Summit is a two-day conference designed to change that.
Held on 17 and 18 October 2026 at the Mantra on Russell in Melbourne, this summit brings together biological dentists, biomedical scientists, parasitology researchers, microbiome educators, and integrative health practitioners to explore one of the most under-examined connections in modern health: the relationship between what happens in your oral environment and what happens throughout the rest of your body.
This is not a conference about teeth cleaning or cosmetic dentistry. It is about understanding how hidden oral infections, mercury toxicity, microbial imbalance, and chronic inflammation in the mouth may be contributing to conditions that practitioners and patients alike have struggled to explain.
Grounded in a One Health approach, which recognises the interconnected health of people, animals, and the environment, this conference bridges dentistry, pathology, microbiology, and integrative health into one focused, practical, and evidence-informed programme.
WHO THIS CONFERENCE IS FOR
Day 1 is open to the general public, patients, students, health-curious individuals, and anyone who wants to understand how oral health may be influencing their overall wellbeing.
Day 2 is designed for health practitioners, dentists, hygienists, naturopaths, integrative medicine practitioners, nutritionists, and anyone working in clinical or allied health who wants to expand their clinical understanding of oral-systemic connections.
Both days are valuable. Many attendees choose to attend both.
DAY 1 — PUBLIC EDUCATION DAY
Oral Health, Pathology, and the Impact of Mercury
Saturday 17 October 2026
Day 1 is built for people who want to understand the basics clearly, practically, and without jargon. No prior health or dental knowledge is required.
What will be covered:
- The oral-systemic connection — What is happening in your mouth, and why it may matter far beyond your dental health. How the mouth acts as a gateway to the rest of the body, and how bacteria, toxins, and inflammation may travel systemically.
- Reading your pathology — A practical introduction to understanding blood and pathology results. What markers to look for, what your results may indicate, and the questions worth asking your practitioner.
- Infection and inflammation — How oral infections can drive chronic inflammatory responses throughout the body. Why some people carry these infections for years without knowing, and what the research suggests about their broader health impact.
- Mercury in dentistry — An evidence-informed overview of mercury amalgam fillings, their potential systemic effects, and what the growing international movement toward mercury-free and mercury-safe dentistry means for patients. Includes an overview of the United Nations Minamata Convention and Australia's position.
- Root canals, cavitations, and hidden oral infections — What the research is beginning to show about common dental procedures and their potential relationship to systemic symptoms.
- The microbiome and oral health — How the oral microbiome functions, what disrupts it, and how microbial imbalance in the mouth may influence digestion, immunity, and hormonal health.
This day is educational. It is designed to give you a framework for understanding your own health differently, not to replace your healthcare providers, but to help you ask better questions.
DAY 2 — PRACTITIONER DAY
Oral-Systemic Infection Clinical Conference
Sunday 18 October 2026
Day 2 is a clinical conference for practitioners working in dentistry, medicine, naturopathy, integrative health, nutrition, and allied health.
8 CPD points per day.
What will be covered:
- Infection-driven inflammation — Deep clinical exploration of how oral pathogens contribute to systemic inflammatory load. Case studies, mechanisms, and clinical markers to look for in your patients.
- Systemic disease correlations — The research connecting oral infections with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hormonal disruption, neurological conditions, and autoimmune presentations. How to incorporate this understanding into your clinical reasoning.
- Mercury toxicity and detoxification — Clinical protocols for practitioners. Understanding mercury burden, appropriate testing, safe detoxification approaches, and the Huggins–Grube Protocol developed by Dr Blanche D Grube and the late Dr Hal Huggins.
- Parasitology and the oral environment — An area that rarely enters clinical training but is increasingly relevant to patient outcomes. Dr Patsy Zendejas presents her research into parasitic helminths, filarial parasites, and the One Health framework as it applies to clinical practice.
- Clinical case insights — Real-world presentations exploring how oral-systemic factors were identified and addressed in complex patient cases.
- Translational application — How to begin integrating oral-systemic awareness into your existing clinical practice. Practical frameworks, referral considerations, and patient communication strategies.
- Pathology interpretation — Applying pathology analysis within an oral-systemic lens. What to look for, what to ask, and how to connect the dots for your patients.
- Biological dentistry in practice — What distinguishes biological dentistry from conventional dentistry, and how collaboration between dental and health practitioners may improve patient outcomes.
Practitioners will also receive a goodie bag and full catering throughout the day (morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, tea and coffee).
CONFERENCE FOCUS AREAS
Oral Health and the Body
Understanding how the oral environment may influence other areas of health, including inflammation, immune function, hormonal balance, and ongoing symptoms.
Infection and Imbalance
Exploring how oral infections and microbial imbalance may contribute to broader health challenges, and what the current research suggests about these mechanisms.
Mercury and Toxicity
An evidence-informed examination of mercury in dental materials, its potential systemic effects, and the clinical and policy landscape around mercury-safe dentistry.
Parasitology and One Health
An emerging and often overlooked dimension of oral-systemic health the relationship between parasitic organisms, the immune system, and whole-body health across human, animal, and environmental systems.
Looking Beyond the Surface
Recognising patterns that may not always be visible in standard care, and developing the clinical and personal literacy to ask better questions about long-term health.
Bringing Disciplines Together
Connecting dentistry, healthcare, holistic approaches, pathology, and nutrition to create a more complete and practical picture of health.

A NOTE FROM THE ORGANISER
This conference exists because the oral-systemic connection is one of the most important and most overlooked areas in health today.
The research is there. The clinical evidence is growing. But most patients and many practitioners have never been given a clear framework for understanding how the mouth connects to the rest of the body or what to do with that information.
That is what this summit is here to provide.
Two days. Nine speakers. One focused, practical, and evidence-informed conversation about what the mouth may be telling us about the rest of the body.
We look forward to seeing you there.
