Bringing exhibitors, distributors & producers together in a suite of sessions on Wed 1 & Thur 2 Nov to grow the success of Australian cinema
About this Event

Following the success of the Feature Film Summit events in 2021/2022, the Australian Feature Film Forum (AFFF) has announced it is partnering with the Australian International Movie Convention (AIMC) to offer filmmakers a suite of sessions on Wednesday 1 and Thursday 2 November. Available virtually, the AFF Program aims to close the gap between filmmakers and the theatrical marketplace and facilitate the sharing of current data, trends and analysis of the feature film marketplace. Streaming the panels will allow filmmakers from across Australia to participate in the critical screen event, many for the first time.

Filmmakers will benefit from understanding the perspective of distributors and exhibitors – the “retail” sector of the chain – and gain insight into what they think will or won’t play in their cinemas. It’s an unmissable opportunity to hear from speakers who are rarely accessible to the production sector.

The virtual streaming package is $25 (inc. GST) and includes access to four panels and one keynote speaker featuring leading professionals in the local and international cinema sector, each highlighting the latest data, trends, technology and predictions about the place of cinema releases in the minds of consumers. They will be live-streamed from the AIMC, recorded and available to registered participants for viewing on the AFFF website for four weeks.

Program highlights include "Ask Me Anything" at 2.35 pm (AEST) on Wednesday 1st November, this is a session where the panelists - film producers, exhibitors and distributors - get to ask tough questions of each other. Moderated by Tracey Vieira, the session will encourage a better understanding of each other's decision making processes, business models and operating environment and enable filmmakers to gain an insight into the business of finding audiences for Australian films.

“The AIMC unites the Australian cinema industry, and partnering with the AFFF enables the whole industry to come together to agree strategies to ensure that Australian filmmakers can leverage industry knowledge so that more Australian stories can be celebrated on the big screen,” said Cameron Mitchell, Executive Director, NACO.
