Austin Premiere of Documentary, "Izzy Cox: Fighting the Devil"

Be among the first people to see the documentary about a remarkable Austin musician, the "Vodoobilly Jazz Queen" Izzy Cox.

Isabelle-Lilane Cox, known as Izzy, transformed a lifetime of trials into honest and courageous lyrics, accompanying her transcendental voice.

The creator of the documentary, Omar Mousa, met Izzy in 2014. Seeing her perform inspired Omar to capture Izzy's extraordinary talent and character on camera.

"Izzy embodied the struggle of being a one-woman band in a male-dominated society," says Omar.

Soon after they started filming, Izzy was diagnosed with terminal cancer. She was given six months to live, but the filming didn't stop. The last years of her life were captured on camera.

The Austin premiere of the documentary "Izzy Cox: Fighting the Devil" will be held on Thursday, April 21 at AFS Cinema in Austin.

Buy tickets to the screening for $20. You can also purchase raffle tickets for $5. A portion of all the proceeds will be given to HAAM- Austin. HAAM played a vital role in providing Izzy with the care she needed in her final days.
