Dust off your boots and saddle up for The Texas Two Step Slam, where words are sharper than a cowboy’s spurs! Hosted by the Slam Legends, Christopher Michael and Brian Francis, this isn’t just any poetry slam—it’s a good ol’ Texas throwdown that brings together the best poets in the Lone Star State and beyond for a showdown you won't want to miss.

Event Format:

• Round 1: 12 teams hit the stage, ready to lasso the audience with their duets
• Round 2: The top 6 teams advance, keeping the competition hotter than a branding iron
• Final Round: The last 3 teams will duke it out for their share of the $1,000 prize

Slam Rules:

• Registration: Rope in your spot by October 12th at austinpoetry.com
• Team Size: Up to 3 cowboys or cowgirls per team
• Performance: All poems must be performed as a duet, and all poets must be present for the draw
• Time Limit: 3 minutes per poem, with a 10-second grace period (any longer, and the tumbleweed starts rollin’)
• Restrictions: No props, no animal acts, no musical accompaniments—just raw, unbridled poetry
• Originality: All poems must be as original as a Texas sunrise
