The Austin Open Mic Musician Show will begin with an inaugural series of 6 productions. The productions will be held at the Pavilion at Givens Park. The first season will focus on emerging solo singer-songwriter acts. There will be 5 preliminary shows that are traditional open mics where people sign up to perform for a few minutes when they arrive
(stage time may vary based on number of acts that sign up, all acts will be given equal access, and there will be a limit to the number of performers at each show).
This show will allow the participants to engage with, learn from, and mentor other songwriters and musicians. Performers will be able to engage with the audience directly to build connections and reach new fans.
There will be a videographer to record performances and provide recordings to the participants for their own use (for booking and showcasing their talent) as well as to share online on the with the artists’ consent to help promote the artists, the community, and The Austin Open Mic Musician Show.
One performer will be selected from each of the 5 preliminary shows to perform at the final show as a showcase. Each performer at the final showcase will perform a 45 minute set and be paid for their performance.
Future seasons of The Show will expand to include larger acts. In this first season, emphasis is being made on solo acts to maximize the budget and equity of payment to performers. The scope of The Show will expand as future budgets allow.
