We are kicking off AUNTIE TIME in 2026 with a girls night! Our theme is Sips, Snacks, & Secrets. And no we will not be telling secrets and gossiping! Haha! We want to chat in a healthy way about ALL of the things that have always felt taboo. May it be that we grew up and never heard our mom's and aunties talk about MENOPAUSE, or their dreams & goals, or FEMININE HEALTH, or MENTAL HEALTH, or their own safety, or even traditions...you know all those tradish ways we are suppose to just magically know without having been taught? Haha. All the things that you might feel nervous about talking about, we want to put at ease. Let's normalize healthy conversation amongst all the Aunties and Nieces.
What to expect:
It is an appetizer & snacks (any treats) Potluck, so bring all those fun snacks. Our org will provide water, juice or tea, and a special MOCKTAIL. Think a very cool Shirley Temple or virgin drink, lol. It'll be a surprise. But we will also provide plates, napkins, and cutlery.
Also, since we will be having a very chill girls night type of time together we are asking folks to bring their kokum scarves (or any scarves or bandanas) and share your face ways to style them. Kokum scarves are the very popular colorful scarves with the beautiful flowers. You see lots of Native folks wearing them and recently we were told how it would be cool to share all the tips and tricks to rocking them, so thats what we're going to do.
So bring your scarves, bandanas, head wraps of all kinds, extra scrunchies or bobby pins or clips to help yourself out, and makeup or table top mirrors to see your beautiful faces while we learn together.
