Aunt Letha's Sourdough 101: It's Not As Hard As They Make It Look
About this Event
If you've ever gone down a sourdough rabbit hole online, you might think making sourdough is an incredibly fussy time suck - but you'd be wrong. People have been making bread for thousands of years with nothing but flour, water and salt while working around their schedule, and so can you.
Join Savannah, owner of Aunt Letha's Bakery, for a beginner-to-intermediate sourdough class designed to take the mystery out of sourdough baking. In this 1.5–2 hour demonstration-style workshop, you'll learn the fundamentals of starters, the seven steps of making a loaf of classic sourdough, and other essential knowledge like how to add inclusions, what high-hydration means, clean-up tips and more. Whether you're brand new to sourdough or looking to improve your results, you'll leave with the knowledge and confidence to start baking.
Choose the ticket option that works best for you:
- Basic Ticket: Includes the full class demonstration, the presentation sent to your email for use at home, and ongoing after-class support for your sourdough questions.
- Baker's Bundle Ticket: Includes everything in the basic ticket, plus a mature sourdough starter and a fresh loaf of classic sourdough bread to take home.
Savannah always makes sure to bring a homemade treat for snacking on during class, and drinks will be available for purchase from the Mercantile.
The class will be held at Homestead in the Hood Mercantile in Lakewood, Colorado, a unique grocery, gift, and honey shop featuring only locally produced foods and products. Founded by the beekeeping team behind Homestead in the Hood honey, the mercantile showcases honey and beeswax products from more than 80 Denver-area hives alongside Colorado-made gourmet goods.
