Augustin Bousfield - Saint Etienne pre-show gig

The Grayston Unity in collaboration with Bradford Music Scene presents Augustin Bousfield.
Based in Bradford, Bousfield has built one of the more remarkable CVs in British independent music. Co-writing and producing Saint Etienne’s albums The Night and I’ve Been Trying to Tell You to widespread acclaim, scoring music for television and film across an extraordinary range of territory (including yes, the Deal or No Deal theme), and being a part of DIY improv collective Bradford Sound Artists whilst putting on gigs as Pleasure Grounds. With consistent support from BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music, alongside appearances at Glastonbury and WOMAD, Bousfield operates in large spaces. He’s also toured the inside of his own head extensively, and the results are all over his music.
On stage, it’s just him and a keytar. A one-man musical machine, flamboyant, precise and almost incomparably individual. Bousfield’s 2024 album Anymoor, a helium-sourced slab of machine funk, progged out synth and infectious pop hooks, was named one of the best albums of 2024 by BBC 6 Music’s Freak Zone, with glowing reviews to match. New single ‘The Kissing Gate’, co-written with Bob Stanley of Saint Etienne, arrives 8th April, with new solo material already in the works. There’s truly nobody doing quite what Augustin Bousfield does. That’s the point.
