Sarah Trone Garriott, Democratic candidate for Congress in the Third Congressional District, is our featured speaker this month. Sarah has served in the Iowa State Senate since 2020, winning three competitive races against well-known Republicans in traditionally Republican areas, including wins over Scott Cirksena, the mayor of Clive; Jake Chapman, the Republican President of the Iowa State Senate, and Mark Hanson, Dallas County Supervisor. Since 2017, she has served as Coordinator of Interfaith Engagement with the DMARC Food Pantry Network. Sarah is an ordained minister in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and has served roles as a pastor, hospital chaplain, and an Americorps VISTA Volunteer. She is the Democratic Senate Minority Whip, and ranking Democrat on the House and Human Services Committee, as well as several other committees. Her priorities include affordable healthcare and childcare, public education, and environmental issues. Sarah holds master's degrees from Harvard Divinity School and the Lutheran School of Theology, Chicago. She and her husband Will reside in Waukee with their two sons. Parking/location: Prime parking and accessible entrance on the East side of the Temple. Enter the door off the parking lot and follow signage to our meeting room.
