August Banned Book Club + Trinket Dish Painting
About this Event
Paint trinket dishes + discuss The Handmaid's Tale (Standard & Graphic Novel) with Chloe from BookTalk SLC. A creative, defiant night celebrating the freedom to read.
We're back for another month of banned books and good company — and this one hits different.
July's pick is The Handmaid's Tale (available in both standard and graphic novel editions) by Margaret Atwood, and we're spending the evening doing what Gilead couldn't stop: reading together, talking it through, and leaving with something beautiful to show for it. Expect meaningful conversation, genuine connection, and a trinket dish you painted yourself — a little artifact of resistance to take home from the night.
Chloe from BookTalk SLC will be leading the discussion, guiding the conversation around the book, its chilling relevance, and what makes stories like this one so necessary to keep reading together.
