Action Theater™ isolates and invites exploration of the formal elements of space, shape and time. The practice quiets the conceptual mind, hones awareness, strengthens and expands your listening and communication potential. You increase your ability to hold and express emotion, enliven imagination, recover lost personal material and play. You learn to engage with each moment that arrives and craft it into dynamic spontaneous performances. The rigor in the work asks you to examine your relationship to the self and your own mental chatter. Every exercise enlightens the connection between intention, awareness and action as well as engaging the heart and mind.
IN THIS 10-DAY TRAINING, you will work 5-6 hours a day, five days a week, for two weeks, developing the practice of improvisation performance. Each day will include 3-4 hour practice sessions and 30 – 60 minutes of performing with personalized critique and direction. Previous performance & improvisation experience is encouraged. This is a performance workshop. You must be ready to perform. The course concludes with two public performances.
