August 2nd the Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble plays Laurel Hill Mansion
About this Event
The An American Songbook concert series continues on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with a performance by the acclaimed Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble at historic Laurel Hill Mansion in East Fairmount Park. The Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble is one of Philadelphia's premier jazz ensembles. For more than four decades, the group has been a driving force in the region's jazz community under the leadership of bassist and composer Warren Oree. Renowned for its signature "Undefeated Jazz" approach, the ensemble blends spiritual jazz, post-bop, and world music influences with expressive improvisation, layered harmonies, and dynamic rhythmic interplay.
For its Laurel Hill Mansion performance, the ensemble will present a specially curated program celebrating America's enduring jazz tradition with a "swinging jazz" theme. The program celebrates jazz as a defining force in the American musical landscape, highlighting the creativity, innovation, and cultural expression that continue to shape one of America's most influential art forms.
The concert will be followed with a reception with light refreshment on Laurel Hill Mansions back porch where audience members will have an opportunity to meet the musicians.
Presented as part of Women for Greater Philadelphia's programming commemorating America's 250th anniversary, An American Songbook celebrates the music that has shaped the American experience. The four-concert summer series explores the nation's rich cultural heritage through performances spanning classical, jazz, folk, bluegrass, and contemporary traditions while honoring Philadelphia's significant role in America's story.
