About this Event

Star City Foam Flingers, the Roanoke Valley's premier Nerf club, hosts monthly Foam Blaster Battles (aka "Nerf Wars") that are completely free and open to anyone ages 6 and up. Nerf isn't just for kids! Adults, teens, and children are welcome; our members and guests are singles, groups of friends, and familes alike. Whether you’ve been in the hobby for years or you’re just looking for an outdoor activity of friendly competition with family and friends, you’re welcome to come play.

No blaster? No problem.

Bring your own blasters and eye protection (safety glasses) or borrow from our loaner gear at no cost.

Darts are provided.

We supply the ammo, so you don’t have to. Our pool includes standard length darts, half-lengths (“short darts”), Rival rounds, and limited amounts of specialty ammo (Vortex, MEGA, MXL, N1, etc.). If you bring your own, please plan to pick it up at the end of the day or leave it for the club pool.

What to bring (optional):

• Water – we’ll have free water bottles available while supplies last
• A portable chair – handy for resting between games or keeping your gear organized
• Sun protection – staging areas are shaded, but the playing field is open, so a hat and/or sunscreen are a good idea

Safety & age guidelines

For parents and guardians:

• Kids ages 6-12 must be supervised by a parent or guardian the entire time
• A parent/guardian must check in all minors (under 18) and attend the safety briefing

For hobbyists and modders:

• All games are capped at 165 FPS
• We start with 100 FPS warm-up rounds, so bring a lower-powered blaster or plan to use one of ours
• All modified blasters must be chronographed on site and approved by a moderator
• Blasters need to clearly look like toys (bright colors and orange tips). Please don’t bring realistic or military-style designs
