August 20-21, 2024: Number Sense Workshop for Educators (Grades 2-5)

Join Jo Boaler and the youcubed team online to learn how to help students in grades 2-5 develop number sense!

Evidence from research conducted by youcubed and others has shown that students with low and high achievement in mathematics differ significantly in the strategies they use when approaching number problems. High achieving students demonstrate number sense, meaning that they interact with the numbers flexibly and conceptually. Low achieving students do not approach mathematics problems this way, and instead rely on standard methods even when they are difficult or ineffective. In this 2-day in-person event, we will explore the latest findings on this topic and share new teaching materials we have developed for encouraging number sense.

Each day, the workshop begins at 9:00 am Pacific Time and ends at 3:00 pm Pacific Time, with continental breakfast available in the morning and lunch provided during a break of approximately 1 hour. Participants will receive a certificate verifying 10 Professional Development Hours (1 CEU).

Please note that, except for free parking that we offer to attendees, transportation and lodging are not included in the workshop fee and all travel arrangements are the responsibility of the participant and/or their school or district. Registered participants will receive additional information regarding parking in an email sent a few weeks prior to the workshop.
