The Play That Goes Wrong
By Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields
Presented in O'Laughlin Auditorium, Saint Mary's College
DIRECTOR: William Heimann
SYNOPSIS:
The Cornley Drama Society puts on the “The Murder at Haversham Manor.” Everything that can go wrong, does go wrong. And then goes even more wrong. A Monty Python meets Agatha Christie catalogue of preposterous disasters. Concluding with the collapse of the set, and then even more disaster.
This is a physically demanding comic stylized (yet truthful) play. The actors fight by hand and sword, climb, crawl, fall, and spit while battling with gravity, poison, fire, restraints and each other. And of course, they brilliantly perform a complex murder mystery with grace and style despite the actors’ shortcomings of theater knowledge and their own severe character flaws.
