Gannon University's Schuster Theatre is holding auditions for a Musical Theatre Cabaret on January 21 and 22 at 6pm.
We are looking for all types of musicians, dancers, and surprises to create an entertaining night of theatre! Auditions are open to both Gannon University students and Erie community members, with the understanding that casting priority will be given to students. Open to actors age 16 and up.
Dress rehearsals will take place in the days immediately leading up to the performances and are mandatory. The rehearsal schedule will be quite flexible and not terribly demanding, but there will be a few group rehearsals for a group opening and closing number scattered through January and February. Rehearsals are usually at 6pm on weeknights.
Please note that you will be expected to provide the majority of your own costumes for this event. Costumes can be as simple or as fancy as you like. The theater costume shop and scene shop will provide minimal support.
There are three ways to audition:
1. Audition with an "act". In this scenario you arrive and perform the song, dance, unicycle routine, etc. that you would like to perform in the show. The act does not have to be fully polished, but it should be rehearsed. You may choose to present a portion of a longer song. Please bring an accompaniment track.
2. Audition to be put in an "act". In this scenario you arrive and audition with a song that shows off your vocal range and ability, and you will be cast in an act. If you are a dancer and would like to be cast, please prepare a short routine that showcases your ability. There will not be a group dance audition.
3. Audition via video for scenario 1 or 2! Video auditions should be submitted to Angela Howell at [email protected] no later than Thursday, Jan. 22 at 6pm.
