This adaptation of Stephen King's novel Misery is a terrifying and intimate show for 3 actors. Character Name: Annie Wilkes

Character Description: Former nurse, currently taking care of Paul. Seems harmless at first, but
initial impressions can be deceiving. Annie is like no one on this or any other planet.

Character Gender: Male Presenting
Character Description: Famous writer, now bedridden due to a car accident. Alternates
between being in a great deal of pain and under a fog of pain medication. Grows more
desperate as he becomes more and more aware of his situation.
Character Name: Buster
Character Age: 20s or older.
Character Race: Any
Character Ethnicity: Any
Character Gender: Any
Character Description: Small but important role. Local Sheriff investigating the disappearance of
Paul. Caught in a game of cat and mouse with Annie.
Auditioners are encouraged to pre-register online by noon on Friday, January 31st.

● Auditioners may choose one of two available sessions:
○ 10 am -1:00 pm on February 1st OR February 2nd
● Walk-ins are welcome on both days but please arrive 30 minutes before starting time to complete registration
● Callbacks will be held by invitation on Sunday, February 2nd, 6 pm – 9 pm
● No prior acting or theatrical experience is necessary
● Auditions will consist of warm-ups and cold readings from the script
● No memorized monologue is required

Additional Information and Key Dates
● Participants are volunteering to be part of Misery.
● Limited rehearsals in February for a read-through and initial fight choreography.
● Majority of rehearsals run March 3rd through May 8th at VLT
● Performances run May 9th through May 25th
