Saturday, August 22, we will have auditions for the upcoming production of Le Théâtre des pauvres bêtes, adapted and directed by Kirby Jambon, Une Chanson de Noël au Lac Bijou, a Louisiana French Language play based on A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens and inspired by the characters from the animated series, Boudini et ses amis, created by Marshall Woodworth and Philippe Billeaudeaux.
Performances will be at Cité des Arts, December, 11-13. Rehearsals will be held most Thursdays from 6 - 8 pm beginning September 17, and most Saturdays from 10 am to Noon beginning September 19. Tech week and dress rehearsals will be the evenings of December 7 through 10. All at Cité des Arts.

Auditions will be held at Cité des Arts, Saturday, August 22, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Audition candidates may be of various levels of French fluency and theatre experience. Audition candidates are asked to select a time frame, select roles they wish to portray, and be prepared for a reading from the script. Candidates may review the attached script sides to prepare for the audition or may simply come in for a cold read. Actors will be asked to read a role or two in one or two of the audition sides. Actors may as well choose, but are not required, to present a memorized monologue. Not all roles are in the sides, thus actors should select the sides they would most like to read from. The play will feature 18-20 actors portraying one, two, or three characters. In parentheses following most characters is the Boudini et ses amis character which the character will resemble. Also included is the age of the actor: Adult, Teen (high school, middle school), and/or Youth (elementary). All roles are open to all races, ethnicities and gender identities or expressions. To prepare for the roles, candidates may wish to view episodes of Boudini et ses amis featuring the characters that correspond to desired roles. Etienne Scrougeaux (Bonrien) Adult/Teen The miserly business owner who is visited by three spirits of Christmas in hopes of reversing Scrougeaux's greedy, cold-hearted approach to life.
Bob Crochet (Coco) Teen/Youth Scrougeaux's clerk, a kind, mild, and very poor with a large family.
Jacqueline Martin (Mme Malheureuse) Adult/Teen In the living world, Scrougeaux's equally greedy partner. Martin died seven years ago and appears to Scrougeaux as a ghost condemned to wander the world bound in heavy chains. Martin hopes to save her old partner from suffering a similar fate.
L'Esprit de Noël Passé (Colinda) Teen/Youth The first spirit to visit Scrougeaux, a curious apparition with a glowing head. She takes Scrougeaux on a tour of Christmases in his past.
L'Esprit de Chrismusse Présent (Boudini) Adult/Teen The second spirit to visit Scrougeaux. His lifespan is restricted to Christmas Day. He escorts Scrougeaux on a tour of his contemporaries' Holiday celebrations.
Fred (D.L. Renard) Teen/Youth Scrougeaux's nephew who loves Christmas and invites Scrougeaux to his Christmas party each and every year, only to be refused by his grumpy uncle.
Homme et femme de business (T-Boy & Maman Yvette) Adult/Teen Two business persons who visit Scrougeaux collecting charity for the poor.
Madame Crochet (Tante Kat) Teen/Youth Bob’s wife who resents Scrougeaux for the miserly way he treats Bob.

Ti-Tim (Lala Lapin) Youth Bob Crochet's young son, crippled from birth.
Fezziwig (Mufaletto) Adult/Teen The jovial merchant with whom the young Scrougeaux apprenticed. Fezziwig was renowned for his wonderful Christmas parties.
Belle (Mazie) Teen Woman who Scrougeaux loved deeply when he was a young man. Belle broke off their engagement after Scrougeaux became consumed with greed and the lust for wealth.
Enfant Dinde (Tortue) Youth Child who Scrougeaux asks to go get a turkey.
Pierre Crochet (Teen/Youth) Bob's oldest son.
Martha Crochet (Teen/Youth) Bob's oldest daughter, who works in a seafood factory.
Fan (Teen/Youth) Scrougeaux's sister; Fred's mother.
