AUDITIONS FORTHE GAMES AFOOT, OR HOLMES FOR THE HOLIDAYS

When: 2-5:00 pm Saturday, October 5, 2024 – Readings from the script. Plan to arrive no later than 3:30 pm. If needed, callbacks will be at a time to be determined. If you have any questions, email [email protected].
Where: At the theatre, located at 1009 W. Reno. Parking is free on the street. Do not use the parking lot for The Horn Trader on the northeast corner of Western & Reno. You may park on ramps in front of garage doors on Reno.
What: Bring a recent photo and theatrical résumé. Be prepared to list any definite or possible conflicts on your audition form from October 21 through the run of the play November 29-December 15, 2024.
Please read the script before auditions! Hard copy perusal scripts are available to check out. Call CST at 405-232-6500 or email [email protected] to make arrangements to check out a script. Call or contact us in the office before dropping by. You may find it online published by Samuel French/Concord Theatricals.

Performance- dates: November 29-December 15, 2024
Specific dates are: Nov 29-20, Dec 5-8, 12-15 with brush-up rehearsal and archive photos on Dec 3 or 4. Most rehearsals are scheduled Mon-Fri at 7 p.m. with Saturday or Sunday rehearsals scheduled only if needed to accommodate week-night conflicts. 1st tech is the afternoon/early evening of Sunday, Nov 24, 2024.
CAST OVERVIEW: 5 Women, 3 Men.
WILLIAM GILLETTE (40s-50s) An actor who is famous for playing (and co-writing the play Sherlock Holmes) in which he stars in both New York and London. He is the supposed target of an assassination attempt after the final performance in NYC. He is a spirited, good-humored man who enjoys hosting parties and entertaining castmates and friends.
MARTHA GILLETTE (60s-70s) William’s mother who lives with him at the mansion and seems to be a dithering, absent-minded woman. She is very protective of her son.
SIMON BRIGHT (appears mid-20s) An enthusiastic “nice guy” who is in a relationship with Aggie; also plays Zerlinsky in the play within a play.
AGGIE WHEELER (appears mid-20s) A bright-eyed and full-of-spunk young actress who loves the finer things in life. She is a widow who recently married Simon, but loves Gillette; she plays Alice in the play within a play.
FELIX GEISEL (late 30s-40s) Histrionic in a Barrymore/Sir Toby Belch sort of way; plays Moriarty in the play within a play. Married to Madge.
MADGE GEISEL (late 30s-40s) A flamboyant, smart-mouthed “gal about town” and compared to Rosalind Russell by the playwright. Plays Marian in the play in scene one. Married to Felix.
DARIA CHASE (50s) A glamorous lady full of showbiz cattiness. She writes a column for a NY newspaper that includes play reviews. “A wave of the pen and I can make you a star.” She has been a medium since she was 15, and leads the séance during the party.
INSPECTOR HARRIET GORING (40-60) British, eccentric, and one of a kind. One minute she seems very clever, and the next minute she seems spacey. Inevitably, she does catch all the criminals!
SYNOPSIS:
It is December 1936, and Broadway star William Gillette, admired the world over for his leading role in the play Sherlock Holmes, has invited his fellow cast members to his Connecticut castle for a weekend of revelry. But when one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities in this isolated house of tricks and mirrors quickly turn dangerous. The danger and hilarity are non-stop in this glittering whodunit set during the Christmas holidays.
