This is the stage play version of the show, it is not the musical. Auditions will consist of cold reads from the script. Links to the audition sides will be available soon if you’d like to familiarize yourself with them in advance, but no memorization is required. Please indicate your preferred character(s) on the audition form. You may be asked to read any role at the auditions, but you will primarily be considered for the roles you specify. Please indicate on the form whether or not you will accept any role; the production team would rather have this information upfront than have a cast member decline a role after the fact because it wasn’t what they wanted. We appreciate your honesty!
Humorist Jean Shepherd's memoir of growing up in the midwest in the 1940s follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas. Ralphie pleads his case before his mother, his teacher and even Santa Claus himself at Higbee's Department Store. The consistent response: "You'll shoot your eye out!" All the elements from the beloved motion picture are here, including the family's temperamental exploding furnace; Scut Farkas, the school bully; the boys' experiment with a wet tongue on a cold lamppost; the Little Orphan Annie decoder pin; Ralphie's father winning a lamp shaped like a woman's leg in a net stocking; Ralphie's fantasy scenarios and more. A Christmas Story is destined to become a theatrical holiday perennial.
Adapted for the Stage by Phillip Grecian
Directed by Wendy Peets and Mike Stec

DIRECTORS' NOTE: We intend A Christmas Story to be a true family show by encouraging parents to audition with their children. Both of us have children who do theatre, and we understand what a unique and special opportunity it is to share a stage with them. There are roles available for any level of experience for both children and adults. If you or your child has never been on stage before, or if you’ve just always wanted to do a show together, this is the perfect opportunity to give it a try! Of course, you and your child are also welcome to audition on your own.
