SYNOPSIS:
The Addams Family, a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story and a dilemma that’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family — a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before —keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
GOMEZ ADDAMS — Baritone/Tenor (Bb2–G4). The passionate, dramatic patriarch of the Addams clan. Deeply devoted to his family and fiercely proud of the Addams name. Finds himself torn between his loyalty to Morticia and his promise to keep Wednesday's secret. Strong comedic timing and movement skills a plus.
MORTICIA ADDAMS — Mezzo-Soprano/Alto (G3–Bb5). The elegant and quietly intimidating matriarch. The emotional anchor of the family, with a dry wit and an unshakeable commitment to honesty. One of the most demanding vocal roles in the show.
WEDNESDAY ADDAMS — Soprano/Mezzo-Soprano (A3–E5). Deadpan, fiercely loyal, and navigating love for the first time. A strong belt is essential. The emotional lead of the show with significant solo material.
PUGSLEY ADDAMS — High Tenor (A3–F5). Wednesday's devoted and chaotic little brother, grappling with the fear of being left behind as his sister grows up. Charming and funny, ideally with a higher unchanged or young sounding voice. This role is open to performers of any gender.
GRANDMA ADDAMS — Mezzo-Soprano/Alto. Feisty, unpredictable, and wise in the most unhinged way possible. A scene stealer with strong comedic chops. Always has a trick up her sleeve.
UNCLE FESTER — Tenor/Baritone (C3–G4, optional C5). The narrator of the evening and the heart of the show. Lovable, childlike, wildly enthusiastic, and completely one of a kind. Ukulele skills are a bonus but not required. This role is open to performers of any gender.
LUCAS BEINEKE — Tenor/Baritone (C3–C5). Warm, earnest, and a little dorky. The boy who fell in love with Wednesday Addams, which tells you everything you need to know about him. A strong singer navigating the gap between his world and hers.
MAL BEINEKE — Tenor (C3–A4). Buttoned up, practical, and deeply out of his comfort zone. A straight laced father who has lost touch with who he used to be. A satisfying arc for the right performer.
ALICE BEINEKE — Soprano (Ab3–G#5). Cheerful, accommodating, and holding a lot beneath the surface. Gets one of the most surprising and hilarious moments in the show. Strong singer with great comedic instincts.
LURCH — Non-singing, minimal speaking. The Addams butler. Communicates mostly in groans. Must be comfortable in large platform shoes.
THE ANCESTORS — All vocal ranges welcome. The spirits of Addams family past, present throughout the show in both singing and dancing capacities. For our production, these roles come with a creative twist — each ancestor's story will be developed collaboratively with the actor who is cast. If you've ever wanted to help build a character from the ground up, this is the role for you.
