Auditions for Newsies will be held on January 4!
Want to have FUN? Then "Seize the Day" and audition for CHP's next family musical...Newsies!

Auditions will be held Saturday, January 4, from 1-5 p.m., in the Newington Baptist Church gym, 6169 Main St., Gloucester. Call backs will be Monday evening, January 6, if needed.

All those auditioning for a role will be required to sing 60-90 seconds of a karaoke or instrumental song they provide. Please bring a CD or digital music accompaniment of a prepared audition song (Happy Birthday or the ABC song music will be provided for under age 8, if preferred). No accompanist will be available. Everyone will also be asked to read selections from the script (accommodations are made for pre-readers).

Anyone who wants to be considered for the role of a Newsie or Katherine, or who only wants to be a dancer in this production, must also learn and perform a short dance that will be taught at the audition. Newsies will be dancing A LOT in the show!

***Please note: Auditions are open to any gender, age kindergarten thru adult, but there is limited stage time for most elementary and middle school-aged children. Most actors of those ages will only be required at a few specific rehearsals through April 6, after which everyone will be needed every day. This is a full-length, adult production, not a children's musical, but we are casting a few children in it. Also, there are roles for people who only want to be dancers, and do not want any specific acting role.

Rehearsals will be at Newington Baptist Church, Sundays 2–4 p.m. and Mondays and Thursdays 7–9 p.m., through April 4. From April 7-17, rehearsals will be every day at Mathews High School, and most will be longer. There will also be at least one rehearsal April 23 or 24. These dates and times are subject to change.
Performances will be at Mathews High School on Friday, April 18, and Friday and Saturday, April 25 and 26, at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 19 at 2 p.m., and Sunday, April 27, at 3 p.m.
