- A Glimpse Into Our Interpretation-
As we see the rise of Christian Nationalism and fascism in this country, there is a quickly growing need for us to stand up and stand together. This production will be influenced heavily by Atlanta protests and demonstrations, as well as the punk scene. We are excited to craft a production full of solidarity and collective power that comes from community. Our production will take to heart the lyrics “Not thrones and crowns, but men.”
– Mattie Weeks, Director
- CAUSE WE’RE SUPPORTING -
As with all of our productions, a portion of proceeds will be donated to a cause we believe in. For this production, we’re raising funds to Lost N Found Youth, an Atlanta-based nonprofit that exists to end homelessness for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) and all sexual minority youth.
- ROLES AVAILABLE -
All roles, both onstage and behind the scenes, are unpaid opportunities for folks aged 16 years and older.
• Jesus – Must be the most charismatic individual in the cast. High energy, charming, funny, gentle but with strength. He is the sort of person others instinctively follow. Vocal range top: G#4 | Vocal range bottom: Db3
• John The Baptist/Judas – He has attributes of both Biblical figures: He is both Jesus' lieutenant and most ardent disciple and the doubter who begins to question and rebel. Like Jesus, he is also charismatic, but in more of an overt revolutionary way. Usually played by someone handsome and masculine, with an undertone of sexuality. He is the most "serious" and intellectual of the group, though as with all the actors, he must still possess a good sense of physical comedy. Vocal range top: E4 | Vocal range bottom: C3
• Nick – Very high energy. Impish and playful. In the original, he played several musical instruments, including concertina, recorder and guitar. Vocal range top: D5 | Vocal range bottom: B2
• Telly – Not the brightest in the bunch, he is a little slow on the uptake. But there is a great sweetness and innocence about him. Because he sings "All Good Gifts" he must be a very good singer. Vocal range top: C4 | Vocal range bottom: G2
• George – The comedian, the class clown. The guy who can do a hundred voices and imitations. Vocal range top: E5 | Vocal range bottom: G3
• Anna Maria – A bit of a tomboy, but basically open and sweet. Perhaps the youngest of the group. She is the first of the group to commit to following Jesus in the song "Day by Day." Vocal range top: C#5 | Vocal range bottom: G#3
• Lindsay - The confident one, the show-off. The first one to volunteer, sometimes she jumps in before she really understands what's going on. Vocal range top: C#6 | Vocal range bottom: G#3
• Uzo – The shy one. Sometimes a little slow to get things, but when she does, she commits all the way. Has an "earth mother" kind of warmth to her. Vocal range top: B4 | Vocal range bottom: A3
• Morgan – Sassy and slightly cynical, the most urban of the group. Also the "sexy" one, but her sexiness contains a large element of put-on, in the manner of Mae West or Madonna (who in fact once played this role.) Vocal range top: F5 | Vocal range bottom: E3
• Celisse – The female equivalent of the class clown. Goofy and a cut-up. In the 2012 Broadway revival, she played several instruments, including conga, ukulele and guitar. Vocal range top: A5 | Vocal range bottom: A3
- PRODUCTION TEAM -
We welcome all folks interested in acting, stage management, our orchestra ,sound design, and set design to come out to audition and join the ensemble for this exciting project. Learn more about these creative and production roles below:

The person in this position acts as the central hub of information and organization, ensuring the production runs efficiently and effectively.
• Orchestra: We’re seeking a bass player, drummer, keyboard player and several guitarists to fill out our pit. Due to the complexity of the music, we’re encouraging those who read music confidently to join us for this production.
• Lighting Designer: Shifts in mood require creative lighting choices. All lighting is controlled digitally through an iPad. We provide all the equipment. Must be comfortable climbing a ladder to adjust the position of lights if needed.
• Sound Designer: Mix our singers live with our small but mighty PA system to ensure everything is balanced.
Set & Prop Designer: Seeking creative to design a rugged, flexible set with elements like chain link fencing, extension platforms and metal accents.
