Golde, Tevye’s wife, mezzo, 40 – 55
Tzeital, Tevye’s eldest daughter, mezzo, 18 – 25
Hodel, Tevye’s 2nd daughter, mezzo, 17 – 24
Chava, Tevye’s 3rd daughter, mezzo, 16 – 23, has a solo dance
Shprintze, Tevye’s 4th daughter, 10 – 16
Bielke, Tevye’s youngest, daughter 8 – 14
Motel, a meek tailor, tenor, 18 – 35
Perchik, student revolutionary, tenor, 21 – 35
Fyedka, a Russian soldier, 21 – 32, mainly a speaking role, dancer
Lazar Wolf, a wealthy butcher, baritone, 40 – 55
Yente, gossipy matchmaker, alto, 50 – 75
Constable, Russian military official, 30 – 50, speaking role
Fruma-Sarah, ghost of Lazar’s first wife, mezzo, 30 – 45, will also double as a villager (can be a younger actress made to look older with make-up)
Grandma Tzeitel, ghost of Golde’s grandmother, mezzo, 65 – 85, will also double as a villager (can be a younger actress made to look older with make-up)

4 Bottle Dancers, 16 – 40 (Avram, Mendel & Yussel can double as bottle dancers)
4 Russian soldiers (including Sasha & Boris), 16 – 40, 1 must be a singer – all must be able to dance
As can be seen from the above, male dancers are very important parts of the Fiddler cast.
*The Role of Tevye has been cast.
