Consider This Theatre Company invites you to audition for its second musical of the 2026 season, Emma: A Pop Musical! Auditions will be held at Downtown Social, 3 N Lowry Street, Smyrna, on Sunday, July 12th and at Mills-Pate Arts Center, 7120 Old Nashville Highway in Murfreesboro, Monday, July 13th, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm and for callbacks on Tuesday, July 14th from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Tentative rehearsal schedule: Sundays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays July 19-October 14. Possible additions of Mondays/Tuesdays as needed. Not everyone will be called to every rehearsal. Tech week: October 18-23. Performance dates: October 23-25 and October 30-November 1.

Audition prep:
Please bring your headshot and resume. You will be taught a short dance combo, so dress to move. Please prepare 30-60 seconds of a song from the show. You may use a karaoke backing track.

Character descriptions:

EMMA WOODHOUSE – A beautiful and smart high school senior who exudes confidence, especially when it concerns what other people should do with their lives. When it comes to her own life, she is not so sure, but she covers that up with witty banter, energy and humor.
This character has a stage kiss. This character has 232 lines. Vocal range: G3-E5
HARRIET SMITH – A sophomore who is sometimes shy, easily swayed and incurably romantic. Although her emotions can vary wildly, her sweetness never goes away.
This character has a stage kiss. This character has 67 lines. Vocal Range: G3-E5
JEFF KNIGHTLEY – A super-smart, clean-cut senior who finds himself enlisted as a substitute teacher for the freshman and sophomore science classes. He is witty and has a good sense of humor, but he’s sometimes a know-it-all.
This character has a stage kiss. This character has 93 lines. Vocal range: D2-G3
FRANKIE CHURCHILL – A world famous pop star who attended Highbury during his freshman year before he got a record contract and left school. He’s sometimes uncomfortable having such a glamorous persona and wishes his life could be a little more normal.
This character has a stage kiss. This character has 53 lines. Vocal range: E2-B3
JANE FAIRFAX – A junior from Ohio who is considering transferring to Highbury. She is rebellious and occasionally gives off a feeling of entitlement. But when she lets her guard down, she’s caring and genuine.
This character has a stage kiss. This character has 28 lines. Vocal range: F3-E5
PHILLIP ELTON – A junior running for President of next year’s Student Council. He is snobby, arrogant, and a true politician, in the worst sense of the word.
This character has 41 lines. Vocal range: D3-G3
MARTIN – A sweet, shy, semi-dorky sophomore at the local public school. In his spare time, he works in the kitchen at Highbury as a dishwasher/busboy. His two favorite things are his bowling team and Harriet.
This character has a stage kiss. This character has 8 lines. Vocal range: E2-G3
ASHLEY – An exuberant and narcissistic junior who begins dating Philip. She’s an ambitious social climber who also wants to be an actress and a singer and is ready to perform for anyone at any time.
This character has 7 lines. Vocal range: Bflat3-E5
MISS BATES – Highbury Prep’s Head of School. She is sometimes overly imposing, sometimes overly emotional, and sometimes overly enthusiastic.
This character has 15 lines; many of those are long paragraphs. Vocal Range: F3-C5
MR. WESTON and MISS TAYLOR – Two teachers at Highbury who get married in the first scene and leave for their honeymoon. They return in the final scene and kiss. These roles could possibly be cameos for two brave and lucky faculty members.
Miss Taylor has 3 lines. Mr. Weston has 4 lines.

WELCOMING COMMITTEE SINGERS – A trio of captivating female singers, like a 1960s girl group.
Each of the three characters has 1 line. Vocal range: A3-E5
HIGHBURY HARMONY (GUY AND GIRL ENSEMBLE) – Some will have lines, featured moments or solos, etc.
FEATURED DANCERS – A small group of skilled dancers to be featured in many numbers.
