Directed by Jocelyn Brown
Music Direction by Lex Leigh
Choreographed by Miguel Cardenas
In this hilarious and outlandish story, the lives of six teenagers from a Canadian chamber choir are cut short in a freak accident aboard a roller coaster. When they awake in limbo, a mechanical fortune teller invites each to tell a story to win a prize like no other — the chance to return to life. A funny, moving look at what makes a life well-lived!

Character Descriptions:
The Amazing Karnak:
Male, 35-60.
The narrator. A mechanical fortune-telling machine. Steady, measured, calm inflection that exudes gravitas—never pushed to comedic extremes.
Non-Singing Role
Ocean O’Connell Rosenberg:
Female, 18-25.
Late teens. Self appointed leader of the group, a competitive over-achiever who struggles to put others before herself. Alpha female, the girl everyone secretly hated in high school: the head cheerleader, student council president, drama club star, and straight-A Honor Society member mean girl; she is sometimes cruel, though she sees herself as a virtuous person.
Vocal Range: High Broadway mix, with a pop quality; big range. Low A flat - high A natural.
Noel Gruber:
Male, 18-25.
Late teens. Intellectual with a biting wit who has developed a nihilistic attitude due to the loneliness of being the only gay kid in his small town. Has never had a relationship; obsessed with French New Wave cinema; he fantasizes about passion and dying a tragic death while stuck working at a Taco Bell.
Vocal Range: Tenor, with a great falsetto; sings in the style of a French chanteuse. Low F sharp to middle C flat.
Mischa Bachinski:
Male, 18-25.
Late teens. Adopted from Ukraine as a teenager, he has a thick Ukrainian dialect and a lot of rage. Due to his love of Gangsta Rap (and auto tune) he projects a hyper macho image that hides a soulful romantic side.
Vocal Range: Range: Baritenor with the ability to sing lyrical Ukrainian folk music as well rap. Low B flat - middle C natural.
Ricky Potts:
Male, 18-25.
Late teens. A cat-lover born with a degenerative disease that left him speechless and mostly immobile who developed a rich fantasy life to retreat into, including a scenario in which he morphs into the long-lost space glam soul brother of Ziggy Stardust, Prince, or David Bowie and saves a galaxy of sentient cats who regard him as a deity.
Vocal Range: Baritone rock voice; Low B flat - B flat. Ability to play basic accordion a plus.
Jane Doe:
Female, 18-25.
Late teens. A mystery and a bit creepy. A decapitated girl who is unsure of her true identity; she reacts in a literal way and largely without typical expression. The trauma of the accident leaves her discombobulated and removed; it’s like she’s learning the world anew.
Vocal Range: Classically trained soprano with a flexible coloratura upper range, and some grit and meat in the lower register. Low B natural - High D natural.
Constance Blackwood:
Female, 18-25.
Late teens. The secretly self-loathing "nicest girl in town" who allows herself to be used as a doormat. Very likable with a big heart and a delightfully goofy and soulful way of seeing the world; she is self-deprecating, with lots of pain under the people pleaser personality. Very likable comic actress.
Vocal Range: alto belt, with a rock edge. Low F sharp - D natural.
