The San Diego Cabaret Project is a collective of highly skilled professional visual and performing artists who are committed to an ongoing collaboration to develop community, stage regular performances, and create new interdisciplinary art. All variety show acts are invited to participate; singers, dancers, contortionists, acrobats, comedians, drag artists, magicians, specialty acts, all are invited to play! We are also looking for a host (possibly two) for the evening.The purpose of this audition is two-fold: 1) to book artists for our first show on May 15 at the Jazz Lounge, and 2) to create a list of artists who are excited about our mission and who we wish to collaborate with on an ongoing basis for performance and production of future shows.
Our first performance will be on May 15, 2024, tentative call time 6:30pm. There will also be one mandatory tech rehearsal in the week preceding the show (date TBD, we will have the date finalized before auditions).
Our vision is to mount several performances throughout the year at different venues in San Diego. Each particular venue may have certain limitations that prevent certain acts from performing, so if that's the case this time please indicate below so you get on our audition email list for next time.
Our first show will be at The Jazz Lounge, 6818 El Cajon Blvd. San Diego, CA 92115, as part of Loud Fridge Theatre Group's Cabaret Series (www.loudfridge.com)! The Jazz Lounge is an intimate venue with the following specs:
Maximum 3 people onstage at a time, with a piano onstage that cannot be removed.
No rigging/hanging
Ceiling: approx 12 feet.
The San Diego Cabaret Project will eventually be a self-funded, profit-sharing venture. However, as we build the collective, for our initial shows we are offering a $75 artist stipend per performance slot (not per performer).
Auditions will be held at The Dancehouse, 2180 Chatsworth Boulevard, San Diego CA 92107 on April 6, 2024.
