The Breakthrough Theatre Company will hold auditions for "Crazy Little Thing Called Murder", an anthology of 8 short plays about murder on the following dates and times:Saturday, January 6, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
Saturday, January 13, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
Sunday, January 14, 5-6 p.m.
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the scripts. Please bring a headshot, or recent face picture, for casting purposes. Resumes are appreciated, but optional.
Show Dates and Times:
February 16-March 4, 2024
Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 3 p.m.
All roles are unpaid, but we collect tips at each performance that is divided amongst the cast.
These are the plays that are auditioning:
“Calendar Girl” by Ken Preuss
Directed by Soph Rubin-Siegel
A woman relives a tumultuous year as she flips through a calendar she is about to discard. Hitchcock, humor, heartbreak, and horror ensue.
BECKY: Female (20s–40s) A smart and somewhat reserved office worker. A fan of Alfred Hitchcock films. Hopes her crush on co-worker, Chad, will add little mystery and adventure to her life.
CHAD: Male (20s–40s) Becky’s flirty co-worker. A man of dubious motives and drunken tendencies. Charming and sweet at times, but equally shallow and insensitive.
ALEXA: Female. (20s–40s) Another of Becky’s co-workers. Slightly younger. Slightly sexier. Ditzy but good of heart. Stealing Chad’s affections through no fault of her own.
DERRICK: A new co-worker. Similar to CHAD in age and stature. Only appears for one small exchange.

Audrey's murder mystery birthday party takes a turn when one member decides to make the situation more real than any of the guests could have imagined.
AUDREY, the birthday girl. Wants everything at her party to be perfect.
JESSE, Doesn't want to be there
TREVOR, Takes things a bit too seriously
REGGIE, the life of the party. Really wants to be the victim, and sports a fake British accent for most of the show
MAIA, a guest at the party. Has no idea what is going on most of the time

KATIE: She is very sheltered, a little childlike. She is Brianne’s roommate and very excited to be helping throw her first surprise party.
SHARON: She is the surprise party planner. She is very sweet and patient with Katie. She tries really hard to always be upbeat and positive.
