"Willkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome!" Auditions for Aurora Arts Theatre's 2023 season opener, "Cabaret," will be held November 20th & 21st, from 6–10 pm. The production will consist of Director-Peter Lopez, assistant director -Alex Chapa, choreographer-Brandon Besse, and assistant vocal director- Holly Braly. The audition will comprise a vocal selection, dance, and a reading. Show is set to run January 27-March 12, 2023.Audition Information:
Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to fill out an audition form. Auditionees will need to be prepared to sing a selection from the show "Willkommen" (see sheet music and track on our website:https://www.auroraartstheatre.com/auditions) as well as learn an additional song taught on site. Auditionees will also perform readings selected by the director and learn a short dance directed by the show's choreographer. Comfortable clothing is recommended for the dance portion of the audition.
Synopsis:
In a Berlin nightclub, as the 1920's draw to a close, a garish Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience and assures them, they will forget all their troubles at the Cabaret. With the Emcee's bawdy songs as wry commentary, Cabaret explores the dark, heady, and tumultuous life of Berlin's natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Cliff, a young American writer newly arrived in Berlin, is immediately taken with English singer Sally Bowles. Meanwhile, Fräulein Schneider, proprietor of Cliff and Sally's boarding house, tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish. Musical numbers include "Willkommen," "Cabaret," "Don't Tell Mama" and "Two Ladies."
