ABOUT THE PLAY
Two drama critics arrive to watch a new murder mystery stage thriller. However, the private lives of the critics become inextricably mixed with those of the play's characters…
BLT actively encourages auditionees from ethnic minority communities and any of the below parts could be played by any race.
You do not have to be a member of the company to audition, but if you are cast you must join.
Characters
Moon - Either Male/female presenting. Frustrated theatre critic questioning their own purpose and how they can stop being an understudy. Playfully pretentious. Playing age 20-40.
Birdboot - Male presenting. Well established critic, trying to protect his reputation from the scandal of his extra-marital affairs with young actresses, whom he seduces by promising a good review. Is required to kiss Cynthia. Playing age 40+.
Mrs Drudge - Female presenting. Hired help at Muldoon Manor and obliging exposition provider. Terrible cockney accent is optional. Playing age 50.
Simon Gascoyne - Male presenting. Handsome and charming young man, new to Muldoon Manor, keeping two women on the go – Felicity and Cynthia. Is required to kiss Cynthia. Playing age 20-40.
Felicity Cunningham - Female presenting. Friend of Cynthia, sporty, headstrong. Seemingly sweet and charming, but capable of ruthless revenge. Younger than Cynthia. Playing age 20-40.
Cynthia Muldoon - Female presenting. Lady of the manor, still mourning her missing husband after many years, despite having an affair with Simon. Is required to kiss Birdboot and Simon. Playing age 20-40.
Magnus Muldoon - Male presenting. Wheelchair-user, ex-military brother-in-law to Cynthia (whom he fancies) but may not be all that he seems. Terrible Canadian accents optional. Playing age 40.
Inspector Hound - Either Male/female presenting. A snooty detective stereotype who arrives at Muldoon Manor to investigate a murder - except no murder has occurred when they arrive. Playing age Any.
