Main Street Productions invites performers of all experience levels to audition for A CHRISTMAS CAROL: A LIVE RADIO PLAY, adapted for the stage by Joe Landry with music by Kevin Connors.

ABOUT THE SHOW
The Charles Dickens holiday classic comes to life as a live 1940s radio broadcast, complete with vintage commercials for fruitcake (extra-fancy), and the magic of live sound effects and musical underscoring. A handful of actors bring dozens of characters to the stage, as the familiar story unfolds: Three ghosts take Ebenezer Scrooge on a thrilling journey to teach him the true meaning of Christmas. A charming take on a family favorite that will leave no one saying “Bah Humbug!”
Performance Dates: December 3-13, 2026
AUDITION INFORMATION
✔️ Please bring a headshot and theatrical résumé, if you have them.
✔️ Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.
✔️ Performers of all experience levels are encouraged to audition.
✔️ This production features a flexible cast portraying multiple roles, as well as a Foley Operator who creates the live sound effects performed on stage.
✔️ Although age ranges are listed for each role, the character you're voicing may be younger or older. The director is looking for vocal flexibility.
This production is designed to utilize between 5 and 41 performers. The characters listed represent the current casting concept, although additional WBFR Radio Station characters may be added and roles may be redistributed.

Freddie Filmore, Male Presenting/40s-60s (Scrooge/Santa Claus): The Veteran – The old pro of radio, film, and stage.
Jake Laurents, Male Presenting/20s-40s (Fred/Marley/Belle’s Husband/Ghost of Christmas Present/Peter/First Man/Undertaker’s Man): The Leading Man – The golden voice of WBFR Playhouse of the Air.
Harry “Jazzbo” Haywood, Male Presenting/20s-50s (Bob Cratchit/Young Scrooge/Fezziwig/Tiny Tim/Little Boy/Second Man/Topper/Old Joe): The Character Actor – The comedian with a thousand voices.
Sally Applewhite, Female Presenting/20s-40s (Gentlewoman/Fan/Belle/Mrs. Fezziwig/Mrs. Cratchit/Fred’s Wife/Laundress): The TV Starlet – The soon to be leading lady with a kind heart and voice to match.
Lana Sherwood, Female Presenting/30s-60s (Ghost of Christmas Past/Martha/Plump Sister/Naughty Little Girl/Charwoman/Fred’s Housekeeper): The Broadway Star – The powerhouse here to have fun.
Rose Bailey, Female Presenting/20s-50s (Narrator/Boy Singing Carols/Good Little Girl): The Fresh Face – The newest addition to the WBFR family.
Foley Operator, Any/Any (executes all live sound on stage): The Technician – percussion or other musical instrument experience is a plus but not required.
