About this Event

The Humanities Collaborative is pleased to welcome andré m. carrington for a lecture and Q&A about his new book, Audiofuturism. This event is free and open to the public.

Audiofuturism: Science Fiction Radio Drama and the Black Fantastic Imagination uncovers the vibrant, overlooked history of radio adaptations that placed Black speculative writing before mass audiences. The study moves from World War II to the digital age through writers such as Samuel Delany, Octavia Butler, and Toni Morrison. The result is a fresh account of adaptation that enlarges the archive of Black sound, reframes radio as a site of cultural world-making, and invites readers to listen again to the past in order to imagine different futures.
