Dr. andré m. carrington (UC Riverside) will give a talk based on his book AUDIOFUTURISM: SCIENCE FICTION RADIO DRAMA AND THE BLACK FANTASTIC IMAGINATION, which chronicles the largely understudied history of audio science fiction made by Black creators for Black audiences. In particular the talk will explore the complex dynamics of identification and disidentification that govern the relationship between race, genre, and fandom.
