The role of play can never be overstated in the life of a typically developing child - after all playing is not a child’s play! Play plays a very important role in the physical and socio emotional development of a child. Playing helps children develop skills of focus, following instructions, gross and fine motor development, development coordination, turn taking, learning to work as a team , accepting failure and success in equal strides and so much more. Yet, when it comes to children who develop atypically and children whose senses perceive the world differently, we are often left wondering does play, as we understand the term, make sense for them at all!
Learning is something that cannot be confined to the walls of a classroom. We learn the best when we experience something, and open ourselves to experiences that are new to us. Learning is organic; and for many children it happens organically in play spaces- spaces where they have the freedom to be themselves and explore. But is this true for children who perceive the world differently? This is something that we intend to throw more light on through this workshop.
Where is it happening?
