ATW Play Reading: Crux by Jesi Bender
About this Event
As he begins his hunger strike, Bobby Sands contemplates the role of violence in lasting political change. When the serendipitous death of a government leader opens up a seat in Parliament, Sands must decide what message he wants to embody, and exactly what sacrifice he wants to make. Crux is an experimental play about Bobby Sands during his hunger strike but, more deeply, examines the role of violence (or non-violence) in revolution and the legacy of revolutionary thought.
