About this Event
Attention All Blerds and Tech Enthusiasts who are looking for community amongst other with shared interests! Do you often feel like you're the only person like you in your sphere of tech? Do you sometimes wonder how sustainable it is to make in NYC without a tribe to be a part of? Well luckily you found this event.
BLACK TECH AND AFRO-FUTURISM: PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE
In this session, we will explore the contribution of people of African descent in technology. From color monitors for desktop computers, home security systems, caller ID, and now AI, the contributions of Black Americans to advanced technology have been one of vague mystery and promise. From brothers and sisters in tech to "tech bros" together, in conversation, we will explore:
- Innovators who have gone unrecognized because of a lack of capital or access to different systems put in place to support inventors in the United States
- The women who moved beyond masculinity, maleness, power, and authority and redefined the vision of inventiveness.
- Tech, AI, and its ability to transform how we connect, build relationships, and head into the future.
- Post-presentation talkback and debrief
Join us for an exploration of fun, creativity, and expansion of what is possible as we acknowledge the contributions of the past and how they inform the promise of the future.
Meet others who are a part of your world who you may not have met yet.
Be sure to register early since this will probably sell out!
