Attendance Practices in the Classroom (07781)

Attendance is a collective effort that includes community, administrative, support staff, students, and teachers. What can we do as teachers to increase student attendance or reduce chronic absenteeism? Our students need to be safe, supported, and connected.

This session provides 3 SEL sub-competencies to integrate or teach in the classroom. Additionally, what practices create an environment in which students want to stay and look forward to being included. Walk away from the session with 20+ strategies, structures, and practices to improve attendance.
Evaluate SEL sub-competencies that increase attendance
Create attendance goals and plans with supports
Include practices to increase safety, connectedness, and support.
