Sat Mar 18 2023 at 10:00 am to 02:00 pm

Friends' Meeting House | Manchester, EN

The workshop will introduce a series of integrative therapy techniques through video recordings and this will be practiced experientially.
About this Event

The workshop will include theory teaching, presentations of clinical case materials as well as the opportunity for participants to discuss and reflect on their own clinical cases. The training will examine how attachment disruptions can contribute to enduring and complex psychiatric difficulties. It will examine processes such as mentalizing failures, dissociation, shame and traumatic bonding. Through a presentation of video vignettes of real therapy sessions, different therapeutic techniques will be introduced to help participants develop and enhance their skills in working with different clinical phenomena.

The workshop will be very practical in nature with the aim of learning and practicing specific therapeutic skills. The spaces will be limited to 20 people and the workshop is designed at specific skills building. There will be an active focus in participants bringing their own clinical material and practicing the techniques through role-plays.

The materials covered will include:

-Attachment based psychodynamic clinical interviews

-Developing a joint psychodynamic formulation

-Emotional regulation and working with defenses

-Understanding the phenomenology of emotion and affective experience
