Atoms, Molecules, and the Elements - The Building Blocks of Everything
About this Event
What is matter made of? How do atoms combine to form every material we see and use? Why do the elements behave so differently from one another? In this 90-minute STEM presentation, students and parents explore the building blocks of matter through vivid visuals, live demonstrations, and hands-on activities designed for curious minds.
Kids will learn:
• What atoms really look like and how our models have evolved over time
• What electrons are and how they determine the behavior of every element
• How the periodic table reveals patterns in the elements
• How molecules form and why they can differ so dramatically from the elements that comprise them
• What clues help us identify elements
Perfect for ages 10–16, but engaging for all ages.
Interactive:
This isn't just a presentation. Through live demos, we'll explore the role of probability in understanding atoms, build simple molecular models, view the color spectra of specific elements, and split water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen.
Parent Value:
Parents will appreciate how this session blends chemistry, physics, and real-world examples in a way that’s clear, accurate, and fun. No prior science knowledge is required.
