Bint Mbareh propose le chœur pour non-musicien·nes. Cette méthode invite chaque participant·e à explorer de nouvelles façons d'utiliser sa voix, souvent éloignées de toute musicalité, parfois contradictoires avec l'idée même du chant, et résolument non verbales. Les exercices de cette invocation d'une heure comprennent la récitation collective d'un poème, le fredonnement avec variations, des frappes rythmiques et la narration d'histoires à travers des sons produits collectivement. La simplicité des exercices les rend accessibles au plus grand nombre, mais leur mise en œuvre implique souvent de sortir de sa zone de confort, de dépasser une anxiété ou une pudeur, et les sons qui en résultent sont souvent inédits pour les participant·es.

L'un des objectifs du chœur est d'agir comme une technologie de déconnexion. Là où des actions quotidiennes comme utiliser une carte en ligne ou envoyer un message vocal contribuent à construire un profil numérique lisible de l'utilisateur·ice en tant que consommateur·ice, le chœur rend délibérément les participant·es impossibles à identifier en fusionnant leurs voix en un amalgame indissociable, inutilisable par la machine d'extraction d'informations incessante qui nous entoure.

Bint Mbareh offers the choir for non musicians. This method invites everyone present to use their voice in ways that are unfamiliar and often illegible, different and often contradictory to song/musicality and definitely not verbal. Exercises in the hour-long invocation include chanting a poem together, humming with variations on humming, clapping to specific rhythms and narrating stories through sounds made collectively. The simplicity of the exercises means that they are accessible for most, but usually implementing them involves learning something, overcoming an anxiety or a shame and the sounds that result from the practice are often sounds that are new to participants.
One of the purposes of the choir is it acts as a technology which helps to offline the minds of participants, meaning that while everyday actions like using an online map to get somewhere or sending a voicenote all participate in making a legible online profile of the user as a consumer, the choir purposefully makes participants impossible to know by joining their voices together into an amalgam that is impossible to separate into individuals, therefore useless to a relentless information extraction machine that surrounds us.
