ATCN: Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses 2 Day Hybrid Course- June 2027

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) 9th Edition Hybrid Course is a trauma education program developed by the Society of Trauma Nurses in collaboration with the Advanced Trauma Life Support program. It is designed for registered nurses involved in the care of injured patients and emphasizes systematic assessment, clinical decision-making, and evidence-based trauma management. The hybrid format combines required online learning with a focused in-person skills and testing session.

Before attending the in-person portion, participants must complete all required online components. This includes completion of the ATLS online modules, the ATLS pre-test, and the ATCN pre-test. These requirements ensure participants have a solid understanding of core trauma principles and are prepared to apply the ATLS framework from a nursing perspective during the hands-on course.

The in-person session, typically one to one and a half days, focuses on skill application and evaluation. Participants complete hands-on skill stations covering initial assessment, airway, breathing and ventilation, circulation and hemorrhage control, disability, special populations, and pediatric trauma, followed by a skills assessment and written examination.

Upon successful completion of all course requirements, participants earn ATCN provider status, valid for four years, and are awarded 19 nursing continuing education hours.al

TARGET AUDIENCE

Recommended for emergency/trauma and critical care nurses with at least 2 years trauma experience. Previously completed TNCC for ED nurses.
