About this Event
What work will we take up in a time of endings?
When considering the ecological and social unraveling of our time, solution-oriented scientific progress often draws hard boundaries around our collective imagination – even among the most radical of activists. Back in 2009, social thinker Dougald Hine co-authored Uncivilisation, a call for art and writing from beyond the margins, which gave rise to the influential Dark Mountain Project.
To celebrate the paperback release of his latest book, At Work in the Ruins, Dougald will join Sam Bliss of Food Not Bombs Burlington and Adam Wilson of The Peasantry School for an intimate discussion of their mutually-informed experiments in regrowing a living culture.
The event has no ticket price. Participants will be invited to work together to sustain the event host, The Spiral House Collective. There is also no requirement to arrive hopeful. Bring, instead, your heartbreak, humility, and perhaps even faithfulness – as kindling. Let’s see if we can get a fire going together.
