The Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University’s D.C. Leadership Academy is the first law school experience created to inspire and prepare the next generation of leaders at the intersection of law and public policy. The D.C. Academy is aimed to enhance students’ experiences in D.C. and help their career paths – as part of that mission, the D.C. Academy is completely free for participants.
Any university student who will be interning or working in Washington, D.C. during the Summer of 2024 is invited to apply.
All students who complete the program will receive a certificate of completion from the D.C. Leadership Academy, signed by Willard H. Pedrick Dean, Regents and Foundation Professor of Law, Stacy Leeds.
Participants will complete two-hour training sessions, one night per week, throughout the eight-week program running June 4 – August 6, 2024. Dinner will be provided at all sessions.
Each training session will be on a different topic designed to help students on their future career paths while they receive hands-on experience at their internships. Renowned instructors will include ASU Law professors, federal officials, attorneys from all sectors and other top experts.
Sample topics include:

  • How to write a top-notch policy memo
  • How Congress and the executive branch work
  • Networking and interviewing skills, resume and cover letter tips
  • Getting hired in D.C.
  • Receiving and implementing professional feedback

None. This program is absolutely free for participants interested in networking with the top minds in D.C. and looking to build their resume for future work in the nation’s capital.
