About this Event
Did you ever want to know more about the commercial side of a photography practice? Ever wonder how a photographic image is prepared and printed for commercial use? Do you know a student who’s curious about the graphic and photographic industry, who’d like to see a studio and have a professional experience? This event is for you!
The event will begin with a 45-minute tour of ASU’s state-of-the-art Commercial Photographic Studio along with its Print and Imaging Lab. The tour will be led by Professor Penny Dolin, founder of the GIT Commercial Photography Studio at the Polytechnic campus. You will explore the commercial studio, high-end digital printing, large-format printing, dye sublimation, and more. Professor Dolin will explain how images are brought to life for commercial industry use, walking everyone through the process and showing examples.
A lighting demonstration will follow, where you will have the opportunity to work in teams of two to shoot your own commercial image, with guidance from Professor Dolin. Bring your own digital camera and thumb drive to take home your work.
Snacks and water will be provided. Participants will have the option to join a group lunch afterward at the Union on campus and is at your own expense.
This is an AZPA member’s only event. Not a member yet, but would like to attend? Learn about our member options here.
AZPA MEMBER BONUS
Use of ASU’s Commercial Photography Studio is also made available to nonprofits—like Arizona Photography Alliance! As an AZPA member, you’re entitled to book a shoot in the studio for your own projects. Once a request for studio time is made to Professor Dolin, a full estimate is provided based upon the project. Contact ([email protected]) for details.
