About this Event
Astronomy on Tap is is a free public lecture series where astronomers give short, laid-back talks over drinks at local bars. No background in science required — our scientists share cool stuff about space while the audience sits back and relaxes, with plenty of time to indulge their curiosity and ask whatever questions they want.
This month, we're hosting:
Sanjoy Som (NASA) - Are We Alone? The Hunt for Alien Life
and
Sydney Erickson (Stanford) - Measuring the Universe with Gravitational Lensing
Som is a systems engineer at NASA Ames Research Center and CEO at Blue Marble Space Institute of Science. Erickson is a PhD student in Physics at Stanford University.
Astronomy on Tap takes place in cities all over the world. This is a revival of the San Francisco chapter, which regularly hosted events before the pandemic. We're excited to be back on a monthly basis!
The event is free, but there is a 1 drink minimum.
PSA: Food will be available at Astronomy on Tap from now on! Come eat tacos
(vegetarian options available)
